The Germack Pistachio Company slowly roasts pistachios in a process that takes about 35 to 40 minutes. “When we roast pistachios we use a batch process as opposed to a continuous roaster,” said Frank Germack III, owner of the Germack Pistachio Company. Germack has been in Detroit since 1924.
During the event, Cullen told the audience that the Detroit blight task force will be heading to New Orleans on Friday, to see what’s been done in the wake of Hurricane Katrina..and to get information and recommendations. Cullen says New Orleans has had a lot of experience in blight removal.

A historic midtown apartment building that has stood for more than 100 years has a new lease on life. Renovation will be getting underway on the Forest Arms, located at the corner of Second and West Forest Avenues. It will have 70 apartments, including five penthouses and two retail spaces.
