Tickets for the 2012 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will go on sale to the public on Tuesday, November 22nd. Several ticket plan options will be available. Auto racing will return to the Motor City the weekend of June 1st through 3rd, 2012.
Entrepreneurs in metro Detroit showed off their products at the Michigan Emerging event at Cobo Center on Monday. Governor Rick Snyder was the keynote speaker at the event, and GalaxE.Solutions CEO Tim Bryan also spoke to the hundreds in attendance. Among the products on display: a small chair to hold and charge smartphones, and apparel designed to distribute the weight of an object onto a worker’s body.
Local retailers, designers and artists are invited to showcase their products free of charge at the Fisher Building in early December.
A conference designed to help entrepreneurs connect with each other and learn about resources available to them will be held at Cobo Center in Detroit on Monday, November 14th. Hundreds of people gathered at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills on Wednesday night for the Black/Jewish Forum. The event was presented by Arthur Horwitz, publisher of the Detroit Jewish News, and Bankole Thompson, editor of the Michigan Chronicle.”What we’re trying to do is not only break down barriers but also bring us together because we do realize there is a historical tie,” Thompson told Detroit 2020, adding it is hoped “we are reigniting a relationship.”

The Grand Prix is returning to Belle Isle!
Chevrolet has announced a multi-year agreement with the Penske Corporation and INDYCAR to bring professional motorsports back to the Motor City for the first time in four years. The first Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will be held June 1-3, 2012 at the 2.1 mile Raceway at Belle Isle Park road course.
In a Detroit 2020 interview, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said businesses are benefitting from the success of our sports teams. Bing told JoAnne Purtan that restaurants and bars are happy, and people who are coming downtown for the games are seeing a different side of Detroit.
