The Hygrade Deli is a Detroit Gem

It’s a story of a family, a good sandwich, loyalty and longevity.

Second generation owner Stuart Litt says his Hygrade Deli on Michigan Avenue started over 60 years ago.

According to customer Ned McClung it’s “old school”.   Stuart himself has been behind the counter for 40 years, and says it’s all about quality: “you buy a top quality product, cook it and serve it right”.

Longtime customer Vince Brennan says his roots are here, but it’s that flavor that keeps him coming back.

Mike Jarvi, another customer says you wont find a better Reuben sandwich anywhere.     It’s the signature sandwich for the deli, Stuart says it’s the one he always recommends when customers ask for a recommendation.

The Hygrade Deli is located at 3640 Michigan Avenue near West Grand Blvd.

I nominate Classic Hardware in Livonia at 7 Mile and Newburgh – a great family-owned store that carries door, cabinet and bathroom hardware, and they also repair lamps and sell lampshades.
