The Greening of Detroit to plant 1,100 trees by Thanksgiving
The Greening of Detroit has announced its fall kick-off of multiple tree plantings throughout Detroit. Their goal: to put 1,100 new trees in the ground by Thanksgiving. That’s part of the overall goal for 2012 to plant 7,000 trees in Detroit neighborhoods.
Nissan is donating a truck to help reach the goal. Now The Greening of Detroit is looking for volunteers. There are several dates and locations where planting will be done.
The first is this Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9am til 1pm in the Warrendale neighborhood. Volunteers for that planting will meet at the triangle lot near 7250 Brace Street in Detroit at the corner of Patton and Braile.
