Honoring A Crime Fighter
On Fridays, Detroit 2020 honors a person of the week.
This week, we’d like to remember a volunteer crime fighter, who sadly became a victim himself.
Marcel Jackson patrolled neighborhood streets with the Detroit 300. He helped track down criminals, and helped get justice for crime victims.
Jackson ran security at a nightclub near downtown Detroit. In the early morning hours on Wednesday, Jackson was shot and killed allegedly by a man he earlier kicked out of the club, who was accused of hitting a woman.
Marcel Jackson was 39 years old and a father of 6. His killer is still on the loose.
