New Website For Detroit Visitors

May 10 2012 | no comments

The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) announced the launch of the new visitdetroit.com, redesigned to highlight the assets of the metro Detroit region to leisure visitors. Launched just in time for National Travel and Tourism Week, May 5-13, 2012, visitdetroit.com is the visitor’s digital planner for organizing a trip to The D. Whether looking for budget-friendly, family-oriented or jazzed-up experiences, potential guests can access itineraries, deals, tips and updates for their favorite attractions and hot spots that will help make their stays memorable.

The new visitdetroit.com’s “planning tools” section includes a clickable, interactive map that points users to accommodations, attractions, entertainment, restaurants, shopping, sports and transportation in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Based on users’ searches, they can easily locate retail shops, restaurants, museums, casinos, green lodging facilities and more in their destination of choice. Their search results on the map also show similar locations nearby.

Once users have selected a location, they can access complete member profiles, which include contact information, directions, amenities and services, hours of operation, events, pricing, deals and more. Also included on each member profile page are TripAdvisor reviews and ratings and icons to members’ Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites, if available.

Leisure travelers who plan their visits around metro Detroit’s famous festivals and events can utilize visitdetroit.com’s event database in the “to do” section of the site to search for weekend, budget, family or music events. They can also do an events search to find the perfect event in terms of theme, location and date of visit.

The “experiences” section of visitdetroit.com is where users can read feature stories and find detailed itineraries to plan excursions related to cars, culture, gaming, music, sports, romance, nightlife, budget, history and food.
