Project Lighthouse Promotes Safety in Detroit’s Central Business District

April 25 2012 | no comments

More than 30 businesses in the Central Business District have joined forces to create an innovative neighborhood watch program.  The  goal is to keep residents, employees, and visitors safer in Detroit.

Each location has security personnel available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   With a simple phone call to 313 471-6490 anyone who is lost, separated from friends, having car trouble or other safety concerns can get help.  Of course, people with serious safety concerns should call 9-1-1 for assistance, but Project Lighthouse is an additional service.

The program area spans from I-375 to the Lodge Freeway and from the Detroit Medical Center to the Detroit River.

The businesses, who have joined hands to enhance the safety and security of downtown Detroit, display logos and banners on their buildings which identify them as a safe haven to assist those in need.  Some of the first locations to display banners are Blue Cross Blue Shield, Detroit Police Department, Ilitch Holdings/Fox Theater, Marriott Renaissance Center, Rock Ventures and Quicken Loans family of companies in the Chase, Dime and First National Buildings.
