Get Funded Challenge Winners Announced

Detroit Harmonie announced the winners of its first Get Funded Challenge at the International Experience. Grants totaling $50,000 were awarded to social entrepreneurs.

The first place prize of $30,000 was awarded to Summer in the City, a Detroit nonprofit organization committed to making community service fun for its volunteers and fulfilling for the community. Through three core initiatives – Paint, Plant and Play – diverse groups of volunteers invest their energy in Detroit neighborhoods and work to build a regional mindset.

The second place prize of $10,000 was awarded to PonyRide, which shows another side of the foreclosure crisis and how it can positively impact the communities of Detroit. Through shared resources, knowledge and ideas, cheap space is provided for artists and entrepreneurs to work and create.

Third place went to En Garde! Detroit, fourth place went to Fresh Corner Cafe’,and Detroit SOUP won fifth place.

The People’s Choice Award of $5,000 went to Fresh Corner Cafe.



The International Experience is Detroit Harmonie’s second annual signature event celebrating the diversity and future of metro Detroit with live entertainment, food, and music representing several cultures in the community.
