M-1 Rail President & CEO Talks With Detroit 2020
If approved, groundbreaking for the long-awaited M-1 rail could take place before the end of the year, according to Matt Cullen, the President & CEO of the M-1 rail.
Cullen talked about the latest plans for light rail in the city during a Detroit 2020 segment on Action News at 7.
The money for the M-1 project will be privately raised. “There are donors coming forward to put the money in place to operate this system,” Cullen told Detroit 2020.
A plan for a light rail from downtown Detroit to 8 Mile was scrapped in December, in favor of a rapid regional bus system. Then last month, a group of private investors was given 90 days to come up with a plan for a scaled-down light rail line in Detroit.
