Promise Neighborhood

June 16 2011 | 1 comment

A turnaround is in the works in River Rouge, thanks to a $500,000 federal grant.

The Guidance Center was one of only 21 organizations to receive the grant last year.

The River Rouge Promise Neighborhood Initiative is modeled after the Harlem Children’s Zone in New York.  It’s a unique approach focusing on social, cultural, education and environmental aspects to determine the needs of the community.

Channel 7′s Carolyn Clifford has the story.

Channel 7′s Stephen Clark talked with Kari Walker, the President & CEO of The Guidance Center, and Roxanne Brinkerhoff, Director, Center for Early Childhood at The Guidance Center.
